This was a personal design project where I wanted to create a poster promoting a fictional student photography exhibit. After several sketches, I decided to use a photo of my own camera. I knew for this poster design I wanted to use bold colors that would stand out among the sea of posters often seen on a college bulletin board. I decided to use the CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow and black) color scheme for it's bold contrast of colors.
I envisioned this poster being screen printed and experimented with how the camera image may look if the camera was copied and layered several times in CMYK. The angle of the camera image gave me a nice area to layout the information of the event in a column fashion. I found a grunge styled typeface that complemented the distressed feel of my camera image and paired it with another clean and thin weighted sans serif, for contrast.
This poster design was selected and showcased in the Art of Women Exhibit at Anne Arundel Community College in March 2016.
