Final Four Concepts

This poster doubled as a class assignment and service learning project. The goal was to create a poster concept for AACC’s Global Giving Market event held in November of 2015. We were given specific instructions to use mostly typography in the design to promote the event with a color scheme of blue, red and white. In class, we each provided several concepts and completed a series of critiques to narrow down our final designs.
For my concept, I wanted the title to be the dominate element in the design. Placing the title at a angle allowed me plenty of room to experiment with the secondary information. I used lines to help create movement and guide the viewers eye through the design. While the photos of the gifts were added later, the globe substituted as the “o” in “global” served as a point of entry into the poster. The red was used sparingly because of its intensity and a list of words highlighting gifts sold at the event were added to the background, leading the reader to investigate beyond the title and imagery.
The final design was submitted to the group hosting the event and it was selected to be the event’s official poster. This poster was also selected to be showcased in The Art of Women Exhibit at Anne Arundel Community College in March 2016.
